Joshua Overmire

My name is Joshua Overmire, and I am a racer. I was drawn to racing after seeing the movie Ford vs. Ferrari. My dad raced karts two decades ago. He told me a little about it, we bought just enough equipment to get started, and I was hooked! I began racing karts in 2021 at age 12 but found my ability far inferior to that of my competition. My teammates at Sunray Racing helped me set measurable and achievable goals to improve my knowledge and performance on and off the track. Fast forward to 2023 and I've won races, state races, and have gone door to door with the best there is in some of the biggest races in the nation! To get here, I had to learn to be fast and smart on the track and to put in the work to prepare to race during the week and in the pits on race days. I love to congratulate my competitors when they are successful, and the humble feeling that comes with personal success; I've had a lot of help and support. I am so thankful for the people that have helped me accomplish and learn so many things about motorsport and kart racing. I would like to thank my mom and dad, my mentor David Nettles aka "Mr. Coach", an all of our sponsors and supporters for their overwhelming support!  When I'm not racing, I put a lot of effort into my schoolwork, I enjoy camping and fishing and spending my free time iRacing.
