2023 Results

Three Sunray Racing Drivers went toe-to-toe with the best in the nation on May 6, 2023, at the fourteenth annual Maxx Daddy. Overall it was a learning experience where we searched for fractions of a second to keep up with the best competition karting has to offer.

David Nettles and Brenden Polit competed in two classes: the Maxx Daddy Prelude and the Maxx Daddy. Taking on a field of 47 karts where only the top 20 qualify for the main event, David and Brenden missed the cut by a nearly immeasurable margin of 0.041 and 0.039 seconds respectively. In the B Main for the Maxx Daddy Prelude that featured 16 karts, Brenden Polt ran 2nd most of the race and came home third with David less than half second behind in fourth. With one final chance to race their way into the feature in an 8-lap sprint “last chance qualifier,” both drivers came up just short. 

Joshua Overmire competed in all three Junior 3 races. Struggling to find speed early, Joshua qualified 12th, 14th, and 16th for his classes. All of our efforts converged on Joshua as the races began and he cracked the top 10  with a 9th place finish in JR3 Pro that saw him running 8th with just two laps remaining. In the JR3 Maxx Daddy Prelude Joshua picked up 3 positions from the 16th starting spot to finish 13th. In the 50-lap JR3 Maxx Daddy main event, Joshua picked up positions running as high as 12th before being involved in a caution on lap 19 that left his kart unable to finish, ending his race where it began in the 14th position.
